China Mission Trip 2011

11A, our team "Guaiu," left Vancouver on March l1th and fled to the continent of Asia. After 13 hours of boring flight, we arrived at the airport in Hong Kong. And another 1~2 hours of flight finally took us to China. Then, we got on a bus ride and it leaded us to a hotel, more like a small motel in "Normal University."
The conditions in the hotel weren't too bad; each of us had a sitting toilet, except some had a broken-taped one. Although it was better than I had expected before the trip, us, including me complained about little things considered below our satisfaction. "Let's not complain." For many people in our team, this was a theme for their reflection during the daily devotion time, looking back on their attitude during the trip in China and back in Canada as well. We were taught that “complaining” is men’s evil nature of wanting more for higher satisfaction, although those materialistic stuffs won’t stay long and truly enrich our lives. Only God’s love stays everlasting. And as the bible says, his son, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life that we must live in faith in him.
We spent the second day touring around the University we had stayed for more than half of the trip. As I walked by, I saw some signs written of course in Mandarin and English as well, but also in Korean. I think urban cities in China are affected by Korean industry, mostly in media, such as music and drama. Hearing Korean music along the street was almost inevitable. It made me felt pride in my own nation.
The next day, we went to the orphanages.

2011 Spring Break

Back from China, I became drained out from the thirteen hours of plane ride. Some of the grade twelves were waiting in the airport to greet Team China 2011. Mom and my brother greeted me. The breeze in Vancouver  was refreshing and relaxing. Because of the jetlag, I slept early right away as soon as I came back home. Lying on my bed, a lot of thoughts spinned around my mind. "Is this the end of the trip? Have I done my best to serve the orphans, the seniors in China? What have God taught me in this mission? As a whole, was this really a meaningful time for me? And so on, I fell asleep.
